"I have recently been promoted from Project Co-ordinator to Project Manager. Although I was very excited about starting this new role, I was also a bit nervous about whether I would be good enough. I really wanted to succeed and prove myself to key stakeholders in my department. I was really conscious that I lacked the soft skills of project management - leadership, presentation skills, negotiating, getting people on board etc.

The coaching has been a really positive experience for me. Although I still suffer from my nerves, Kate has provided me with some tools / techniques to be able to channel those feelings and make them positive. I also feel my confidence has grown - in my own ability and in my skills as a project manager.

The tools / techniques in getting difficult stakeholders on board has been so useful - I really enjoyed using language to build up rapport with people, matching their pace and bringing them back down to a speed I was comfortable talking at, and using key words that would relate to them the most.

There was a particular stakeholder who I was having problems with - we used role play in order to identify what was the actual issue. This enabled me to take this back to work, and resolve it.

The coaching has been invaluable in terms of building my confidence, and having someone objective, who I can share my concerns / issues with. I would definitely recommend this for someone who is new to a role / recently got promoted.
